Helen Wojtas

Helen Wojtas (she/her) is a professional Costumier working in the Canberra region. She holds a MBA (Arts and Cultural Management) (Deakin University 2022), and graduated in 2015 from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (Costume Construction), as well as completing a BArts (Gender, Sexuality and Culture) (Hons)/BSc (Psychology) (ANU 2011). Her professional work as a costumier has allowed her to work in Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney.

 

Helen’s unique skill set has allowed her to work across a variety of performing arts, including acting, musical theatre, physical theatre, circus, ice dancing, contemporary dance, ballet and opera. Helen continues to create bespoke costumes for dance, circus, and ice dance performers in the Canberra region. As Designer: Happy Birthday Wanda June (Canberra Repertory Society 2018), Journey in my Hat (Warehouse Circus 2018), Circus De Light (Warehouse Circus 2019), Quizzic Alley - the Great Wizard Ball (Warehouse Circus 2019), Little Girls Alone in the Woods (Canberra Youth Theatre 2021), Urinetown (Heartstrings 2022 and 2023), How To Vote (Canberra Youth Theatre 2022), Legacies (Ribix Productions 2023), The Merry Widow (National Opera 2024), and The Addams Family (Canberra Philo 2025). As Costumier: Spring Awakening (StageArt, 2017), Anna Bolena (Melbourne Opera, 2016), Giselle, Act 2 (Dance Development Centre 2018), King Lear (Echo Theatre Theatre), The Hello Girls (Heartstrings 2023 and 2024), and The Taming of The Shrew (Playwrought 2025). Helen made her debut as a Set and Costume Designer in Peter / Wendy (Ribix Productions 2025).

 

After working as a costumier on the Playwrought production of The Taming of The Shrew, Helen is thrilled to be revisiting these characters as the Costume Designer for a Canberra audience.
