Shontae Wright | Lucentia
Shontae Wright (she/her) is a proud Indigenous woman and an emerging actor, writer, and performance maker. She moved to Perth in 2021 to study Aboriginal Theatre at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) and recently graduated with a Bachelor of Performing Arts (Performance Making). Shontae has worked across producing, directing, and performance. She produced Blue Angel at The Blue Room Theatre as part of the 2025 Summer Nights Festival, directed Cowboys & Indians for the 2024 TILT Program, and wrote and performed in CORE, which received the TILT Industry Award. A passionate storyteller, Shontae creates work that invites shared emotion and meaningful dialogue. She recently relocated to Canberra to be closer to family (and her beloved cat, Gizmo) and is thrilled to be joining Lakespeare. Shontae is excited to play Lucentia and looks forward to bringing Shakespeare to life for Canberra audiences, especially a satire-filled, gender-flipping production like The Taming of the Shrew.
